"Good, true and beautiful" evokes Plato. Centuries later, Burlamaqui (Professor of Jurisprudence at the University of Geneva) defined happiness as "possession of the good." Burlamaqui was his time's leading exponent of Natural Law, and the Declaration of Independence echoed Burlamaqui's "noble pursuit" of "true and solid happiness."
