Empower the Next Generation of Leaders
This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to support our founding scholars.
From Maggie: One of my aims with Inside UATX is to acquaint you with the extraordinary people at the heart of our enterprise. Today, I give you my colleague Meg Court, Development Manager at UATX. Meg works closely with the supporters worldwide who have transformed our university from a bold idea into a brick-and-mortar reality.
Meg is a native Houstonian, a graduate of St. Edward’s University in Austin, a lifelong actor, and our resident tour guide. She tells me Austin is her favorite city in the world.
Intellectual curiosity, rigorous inquiry, and independent thought are at the heart of everything we do here at the University of Austin. These founding principles are why I knocked on UATX’s door in the spring of 2022, and the intrepid community we have built of students, faculty, staff, and supporters makes me thankful every day that I did.
Our students are bright and adventurous, courageously seeking to shape the future with integrity, insight, and a commitment to truth. Our faculty are warm and wise, eagerly sharing their insights inside and outside the classroom and fervently seeking new ideas with a sincere desire to listen, discuss, and grow. It is a true honor to carry out this community's mission each day alongside so many brilliant and humble minds. And it’s a deeply personal joy of mine to connect with our supporters who make UATX a reality.
This Giving Tuesday, I encourage you to join us in impacting the next generation of thinkers, innovators, and leaders at the University of Austin. Your gift today will go toward our Founders Scholarship Fund, enabling us to provide transformative educational experiences for our students and empowering them to pursue their dreams and make meaningful contributions to society.
Why Your Support Matters
Your donation today will directly shape the leaders of tomorrow by ensuring that our students can continue to challenge assumptions, ask difficult questions, and rise to the challenges of our ever-evolving world. Your gift will help us continue to provide student scholarships, opening the door for talented, ambitious students to get an education that will prepare them to tackle the world’s most pressing challenges and foster a culture of intellectual courage, empowering these bright minds to challenge conventional wisdom, explore new ideas, and build a flourishing society for future generations.
A Community of Excellence
The University of Austin is a community of passionate students, distinguished faculty, and forward-thinking supporters like you. Together, we are building something that will impact the future of education and our world.
Our students are truly remarkable. I’ve had the pleasure of hearing their inspiring stories about their journey to UATX, whether on our Intellectual Discovery Hike on the Barton Creek Greenbelt or as we stand in line for dinner ahead of our Wednesday night speaker series. I’m excited for you to get to know one of our founding students, Remy.
Meet Remy, Class of 2028, on a mission to prevent heart disease
Remy grew up in Leander, Texas, and was drawn to the University of Austin for its commitment to a truly interdisciplinary intellectual formation, recognizing that diverse perspectives can enhance problem-solving and creativity. With a keen interest in entrepreneurship, Remy focuses on how a liberal arts education can shape his development as a business leader and innovator. Remy, a former child actor and model, transitioned away from the industry after his father overcame a severe heart attack with only a 15% chance of survival. This life-changing experience motivated him to delve into research on early detection, igniting his passion for healthcare innovation.
Remy is working on cataloging biomarkers in the blood more comprehensively than current technologies and products allow. By honing in on key indicators and examining their interactions and co-prevalence, he aims to assess heart attack risk earlier and more accurately.
His ambitious project holds potential not only for remote monitoring solutions for healthcare providers but also for personal consumer products and wearable biotech applications. Additionally, Remy aspires to develop an AI-driven system that provides personalized lifestyle modification advice at early stages, helping individuals take proactive measures to prevent heart attacks. To bring his vision to life, he is identifying mentors and exploring opportunities to build prototypes, both independently and in several collaborations with existing labs. With his innovative approach and dedication to finding solutions, Remy is poised to make a significant impact in preventive medicine that will enhance and prolong many lives.
