Well written! Certain things should be accepted, without a need for debate, ie there are 5,280 feet in a mile, 60 seconds in a minute, in the USA there should be a large body of common knowledge & customs that Amercians should be aware of & support & celebrate. That being said, there are many things should be debated & questioned, however, if a person A doesn't agree with person B, settle the disagreement with rigorous questioning, & dialog.

I agree with the premise and overall sentiment … buuuut it feels we are past peak woke already, and this sort of speech already feels outdated. Also, get rid of Michael Shellenberger if you want your institution to be taken seriously… Your chair of Politics, Censorship and Free Speech blocks people on Substack when he gets an opposing view from Europe… Doesn’t feel so “fearless” to me… I don’t take it personally, but it stinks of hypocrisy when I now cannot debate on his publication - which has hundreds of thousands of subscribers. I thought the online space was supposed to be the public square… or maybe it isn’t the public square and we can stop pretending like it is? Hmmm maybe a student could bring up this paradox with him at his next lecture on censorship… wouldn’t that be an interesting topic to debate? 🤔
